Fall news and events 2011

Hope you all had a great summer, there are many events happening this Fall here in the studio, hope you will stop by for a visit. Please note the new regular studio hours which begin the week of September 6th.
Wednesday and Thursday 1pm to 4pm
Fridays 1pm to 9pm
Saturday 9:00am to 12:00 pm
Or by appointment (not available weekday mornings)
Drop by to shop or to work on your projects during these hours.
Please be sure to call or check the calendar on the web site, or face book as hours are subject to change (especially during hockey and curling season).
Many exciting classes coming up. I have finally found a great teacher for the DSLR photography classes everyone has been requesting. Please email me asap if you are interested, details are on the schedule attached. These will be beginners classes to start, if you are like me and can only use auto on your nice camera this will be for you. We’ll be having advanced and specialty classes as well. Please email me what you’d like to learn, & what interests you, you need to bring your camera to classes. Please have a look at the calendar for several other great classes this fall Including : Intro to Copics, Glimmer Mist techniques, advanced paper crafting techniques, Fall Mini Album & more.
Events this season include some great classes as well as many fundraising crops in several different locations. I am sure one of the crops will be close to your location, please join me to raise money for some great causes and have a fun day out. The studio is closed the day of these crops but you can come shop at the crop & help raise funds that way. There are still spaces available, ask me for more information. It’s a great way to meet new scrapbooking friends in your area and help out some great causes.
CHA new products are starting to arrive, all the new releases will be pouring in over the next several weeks. Be sure to check out the new smash books they are all the rage, and make a great gift, especially for teens. If you are not a Face Book fan this is the place to get the scoop latest products. You can even get me to save what you want. I am expecting products from: Bella BLVD, Basic Grey, Fancy Pants, Imaginisce, Copic, Tattered Angles, Echo park, Jillibean Soup, Prima, Imaginisce, My Little Shoe Box, Simple Stories, Crate paper, October Afternoon, Bo Bunny, Tattered Angels, Ranger/Tim Holtz, Little Yellow Bicycle & tons more.
I am accepting applications for Design Team members and teachers, I am sad to be saying goodbye to designers Jill , Lori, and Linda. We all loved your projects, good luck on your future crafty adventures. Applications are due September 30th for designers and teachers. I am looking for local designers/teachers who can do a variety of projects, blog & Face Book, and can submit digitally as well as in person. The designers do as much or as little as they want, we are a pretty laid back group. Please ask me for more information, I am looking for a variety of levels this year as well as card makers, altered art artists, home décor, Copic artists, as well as beginner and advanced paper crafters. If you have applied before I welcome your application again.
Drop in continues for my open hours this Fall. For a $3.00 drop in fee or $30/year membership you can use the studio any time I am open. You can use all my tools, stamps, die cutters etc and there is a great scrap bin with tons of goodies. Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult. If you are a group of 4 or more please let me know you are coming so I can ensure enough space.
Want to book your own event or class? I will continue to book events, classes, crops & parties. I need a lot of advanced notice for these events I am very busy with bookings. If you have 4 or more people you can book your event, class or party at your convenience. I do group events, crops, fundraisers, will be a vendor at your event, classes for seniors or children as well.
Please remember to bring your own bag when you come to the studio. I recycle bags and will gladly take your unwanted bags with no advertising. Please bring your canvas grocery bags when you visit, the size is perfect for scrapbooking items.
The new Fall issue of The Canadian Scrapbooker should arrive early September. Scrapbook & Cards Today will arrive late September. Both these Canadian magazines are sold out quickly so when you see that they have arrived please stop by the studio as soon as possible.
Copic markers have been a huge hit, please let me know if you need a specific colour or set and I will order it for you. The makers have been selling extremely well and I am finding it hard to keep them in stock. Due to the popularity of these markers I am now carrying rubber stamps, everyone is looking for images to colour, so much fun!! I carry over 100 sketch colours and will order refills for you as well.
Be sure to check out the 25 and 50 cent paper bins, as well as the 40% off discount bin, there are always new goodies being added every week. There is always a coupon on the hard copy of this newsletter, this season it is for 25% off any item.
Please be sure to stop in to pick up your Fall kit & vote for the Spring/summer projects. The kit is only $10 and it’s a surprise. I always try to new papers that are not on the shelves for my kits. You create a project using a little bit of everything in the kit and I post them up in the studio. Feel free to make a mini album, cards, or scrapbooking pages, the more creative the better. Studio visitors vote for their favourite & the winner wins a $20 gift certificate.

Thanks to everyone who donated unwanted scrapbooking items. I will continue to take your unwanted scrapbooking items and share them for use here in the studio or donate them to one of the many groups I support ( schools, 4H, nursing homes etc.).
If I don’t have a product you are looking for I will try to order it for you. I offer all the latest names in paper crafting supplies. I also order kids craft supplies/kits perfect for birthday gift giving, ask for more information.

Events Tues Sept 13th and 20th, (7:30pm)and October 1st , 1pm to 3pm.Basic Photography, DSLR class with Peter Monty Wesley, Location is here in the studio. Only $95.00 Learn the basics of your DSLR Camera if you are like me and have a great camera and only shoot in the auto mode, this class is for you. This is a 3 part class, with two in studio lessons and the last lesson will be a hands on excursion outdoors ( weather permitting), to practice what you’ve learned and get hands on assistance. Please bring your fully charged camera, empty memory card, and notebooks. Limit 10 people, advanced registration and payment required.

Thursday, October 20th 7:30pm to 9:30pm-Copic Basics class, $20. All the basics you need to know about Copic markers, theory and time to learn some of the basic techniques, all supplies included.
Tuesday, October 25th, 7:30pm to 9:30pm—Bo Bunny Fall mini album class, $30.00, bring at least 10 pictures.
Saturday, November 5th 9:00am to 9:00pm St. Catherine’s school in Metcalfe fundraising crop, a fun day of cropping, only 40$, I’ll have supplies for sale as well. All proceeds plus a % of my sales goes to the school, studio is closed but you can join me to shop all day at this event, please ask me for more information.
Tuesday, November 15th, 7:30pm to 9:30pm—Glimmer Mist techniques class. Learn all you need to know to make the most of your Glimmer Mist, all supplies included, $30 (includes a Glimmer Mist mini album)
Saturday, November 19th – 9:00 am to 11pm Gems fundraising crop, Dixons corners ,come join me at the gems crop, only 40$ if you pre-register, $50 at the door, all money goes towards building a school in Africa, I’ll be there cropping all day, with supplies for sale as well, contact me for more info. Studio is closed that day ,come shop at the crop a % of my sales goes to the cause, prizes, challenges & more.
November 30th Fall kits are due, new winter kits are available.
December 23rd to January 8th, 2012 closed for Christmas holidays.
Feb 24th & 25th,2012—studio closed
